Hands-on Science Studio
How do young scientists build evidence they can defend?

What scholars do
The Science Studio is the anchor of the partnership. Scholars work in small lab teams on NGSS-aligned investigations, keeping a running lab notebook and defending their claims with the evidence they gathered themselves. There are no observers: every scholar handles the instruments, records the data and explains the result.
Goals for the year
- Complete at least eight full investigations per year, each with a written claim-evidence-reasoning defense.
- Master lab safety, measurement and accurate data recording by the end of the first trimester.
- Move every scholar to a 3 or 4 on the shared Excellence science rubric.
